  • Michelle Tea In conversation

    Author, poet, arts organiser, tarot reader, queercore memoirist and performer in conversation about her books, her indie press Dopamine, and more!

    In conversation with Maz Murray, artist filmmaker who uses satire, surrealism, melodrama, and humour to talk about queer and trans identity, class, and the complexities of public life. They collage and subvert pop cultural tropes such as music video, TV documentary, talk show, social media content and cinema.

  • POTATO PRINTING WORKSHOP

    Join potato printing artist and illustrator, James O’Brien for a potato printing workshop at The Folkestone Bookstore, 70-72 Tontine Street, Folkestone, CT20 1JP.

    Learn how to potato print a variety of different animals using pre-cut shapes.

    Workshop lasts 45-60 minutes
    All materials will be provided
    Adult supervision is required throughout
    Potato shapes are pre-cut (no knives or carving)
    Wear appropriate clothing for messy activities Suitable for ages 5+

    All artwork can be taken home, or picked up the next day once dry..

    Potato Printer is raising money for local food bank, The Rainbow Centre.

    Limited spaces available, so please book early to avoid disappointment. Please select how many seats you need. For example: for one parent and 2 children, you will need 3 seats, etc.

  • Silent Bookclub

    We are the Folkestone chapter of the Silent Book Club. Our function is simple; to gather together to silently read.

    There are no expectations or pressure, our group is a welcoming space and there for that bit of escapism we all need in our everyday lives.

  • Folke and Books

    A drop-in folk music club presented by Folke Around - join us for a relaxing afternoon of acoustic music and words!
    Free to attend, the session is held approximately on every third Sunday of the month - check Folke Around’s Facebook page for accurate dates.

  • Nervous Drawing

    This two-hour session will introduce you to the nervous drawing technique using colour pencils and watercolours. It is a relaxed way of exploring your creative energies and breaking the fear of making marks on paper.

  • Boundaries with Friends

    Held by Gwen, this workshop is designed to help with boundary awareness, both for ourselves and for others and to explore how they can be communicated both verbally and non-verbally. This workshop provides techniques for dealing with these emotions, lots of tea and chocolate, and a “string boundary” should you want one. There is a breakout space and always permission to take time out and do whatever you need to do to regulate your nervous system.

  • LGBT+Sandwiches Social

    Join us for a inter-generational LGBTQIA+ social afternoon. Connecting members of the community from in and around Folkestone, this meet-up will include crafting sessions, discussions, games, and occasional guest appearances from local queer performers. Everyone welcome! Refreshments available.

  • Sunday Writing Hangout

    Every Sunday! Hosted by Kirstyn Brook.

    Come along to write in the company of others, no pressure to share. Tea and coffee provided.

    Free! Donations accepted for drinks and snacks.

  • Arts and Crafts

    Our arts & crafts room is open most days and free to use! We have colouring books, paper and colouring in materials. There are also lots of books to cut up and reuse. This room is open to kids and adults.

    Please get in touch if you are planning a visit to the room, we sometimes need it for organising our books! You can also click the link below to check when it’s privately booked, or if you would like to book it yourself!

  • Reading Room

    Our reading room is open most days with tea, soft drinks and filter coffee available for free or for a donation if you are able.

    There are a range of books available to sit in and read that have been donated by individuals and groups such as the Siobhan Dowd trust and Whitechapel Gallery.

    There are also plenty of zines and magazines on a range of topics.
