Would you like us to stock your work?

Are you a local author or creative interested in showcasing your work? We partner with a variety of local talent to sell a range of items—from books and prints to handcrafted trinkets and beyond!

Before Reaching Out:

  • Submission Process: Please do not bring items directly to the store without prior request. To understand how you can support indie bookshops effectively, consider reading this resource for local authors and creatives.

  • Engagement: We value collaboration with authors and artists who take the time to promote our bookshop through their networks such as schools and community groups, social media, and by engaging with our community programs like book clubs or writing groups.

  • Collaboration: To sell your items, we need our business to stay open! Don’t be shy about asking us about our stock and our customers, or join one of our book-clubs or writing groups in order to get to know our customer base.

Our Terms:

  • Consignment: All items are stocked on a 'payment on sale' basis*. We take a 35% commission on all sales, which helps cover our operating costs. Rates are negotiable for not-for-profit works, and smaller project runs.

  • Sales Tracking: We ask that you check in every few months for sales updates. After sales figures are confirmed, we require an invoice to proceed with payment via BACS transfer.

Submission and Promotions:

  • Getting Started: Interested in having your work featured or hosting an event? Reach out to us at submissions@thefolkestonebookshop.co.uk with a short description of your work or via the form below. Provide us with pricing details, and any other relevant information.

  • Promotion: Please note that while we are happy to showcase your items, promotional marketing for individual items is not within our responsibilities or capabilities. We will market to the best of our abilities but we are a small team with multiple additional jobs!

  • Note: We're planning to expand to online sales. However, online selling currently falls outside of our scope. If you are stocked on Bookshop.org, we are able to promote your book via our website and encourage sales there.

We reserve the right to decline any stocking enquiries at our discretion and we will usually prioritise collaborations with authors who actively engage with and support our shop and business ethos.

*Due to a lack of space, if your work hasn’t sold after 90 days then we will ask you to collect it. We will still consider future work from you, it may just be that the particular theme of those specific items did not suit our customer-base.
